Do you want to be part of the plan for one of Texas' best places to enjoy nature-oriented recreation?
If so, Trinity Nature Conservancy invites you to help make this happen at Joe Pool Lake.

First, some facts about Joe Pool Lake: 

• The 7,740 acre lake was created in the 1980’s by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) for the purpose of flood control, drinking water supply and public recreation.

• USACE designated eight sites for nature-oriented parks. Three are fully developed now: Cedar Hill State Park, managed by Texas Parks & Wildlife. Lynn Creek Park and Loyd Park, managed by the City of Grand Prairie.

• The other five parks all have minimal development, like Britton Park, or are totally undeveloped.

• USACE published its master plan for Joe Pool Lake in 2019, following an extensive exchange with the community. That plan points the way towards the other parks being developed in ways that encourage the public to enjoy the plentiful natural wonders that exist in the lake area.

What's missing to make that happen? COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT.

For this vision to move forward, Grand Prairie’s government leaders need to hear from residents who want these nature-oriented parks created, improved, and opened for public enjoyment. Trinity Nature Conservancy hopes to encourage that conversation through this website.

Also on this website, you can explore our ideas for the many nature experiences that could become available once the parks are created.

HOW THIS CAN HAPPEN
Grand Prairie taxpayers need not be worried. Because Trinity Nature Conservancy intends to pursue this work without creating a burden on you. Funding for major improvements is expected to come from donations, government grants, and revenue from appropriate park-related commercial activity, such as equipment rentals, food and beverage sales, and other services that support visitors.
